Based on Jane Austen's novel Emma, Aisha is the latest to join the list of films based on books. The film is being directed by Rajshree Ojha and produced by Anil Kapoor and his younger daughter Rhea Kapoor. It is expected to release in April next year.

The much hyped multi starrer 3Idiots, is based on author Chetan Bhagat's bestseller Five Point Someone. Starring superstar Aamir Khan and stunning Kareena Kapoor along with Sharman Joshi and R Madhavan, the film has already garnered much media attention.

Salman Khan starrer Hello was also based on author Chetan Bhagat's fiction One Night at Call Centre. The movie didn't do well at the box office.

Mira Nair's The Namesake was based on Jumpa Lahiri's second book The New Yorker. Tabu, Irfan Khan's intense performance made the film successful.

The Mistress of Spices, 2005, by Paul Mayeda Berges was based on upon the novel The Mistress of Spices by Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni. Aishwarya Rai appeared as the spice queen in the film.

Bollywood blockbuster Devdas directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali was based on Bengali novel by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. The film had Shah Rukh Khan, Aishwarya Rai and Madhuri Dixit in the lead roles.
